EDT 598 - Technology Supported Inquiry-Based Teaching and Learning

I am taking this class online through the University of Maine for the Summer 2016 semester.  The instructor is Meredith Swallow.

This Week's Learning Task

  • IBL Plan is Posted
I posted my IBL Project Plan.  It's still not quite finished yet, and I'm not sure I understand all of the mental gymnastics involved in this.  I'm most confused about how it seems like we've constantly shifted back-and-forth from the teacher role to the student role, and trying to think about how to be as student-centered as possible while thinking about how to implement this as a teacher, but imaging what the students would be doing because they're not here to come up with all the parts that they're supposed to.  My brain hurts...

Anyways, follow the link on the right side of the page to find the plan.

  • Finding Pictures You're ALLOWED To Use
A question in Google Classroom prompted me to finally finish a blog post I wanted to do months ago.  It's about tools and resources to help you find images you're actually allowed to use on the Internet.  Check it out!

  • Padlet / Free Tech 4 Teachers
I saw that a number of people in our class used Padlet for their "I Wonder" learning tasks.  If anyone is new to Padlet and would like to learn more, including ideas for classroom use, here are a few resources I stumbled upon this weekend

Padlet - Best of Education (curated Padlets from teachers just like you!)

By the way, if you don't know Richard Byrne (author of the Free Tech 4 Teachers website, among other things, you probably should).  He has countless resources for learning about new technologies and applying them in the classroom.  You should definitely give him a follow on Twitter (or on Facebook, or Pinterest, or Google+).
